Breakfast at Sustainability's: SUMP 2.0 - Reshaping the EU SUMP Guidelines

The CIVITAS SUMPs-Up project is hosting an event on 12 December 2018, 09.15 - 13.00, in Brussels (Belgium), as part of the ongoing process to revise the EU SUMP Guidelines.

For local, national and European level officials working on SUMPs, this represents a prime opportunity to contribute to the next generation of the EU SUMP Guidelines and help shape EU mobility policy.

URBACT City Festival

URBACT enables cities to work together to develop new and sustainable solutions to major urban challenges, through networking, sharing knowledge, and building capacities for urban practitioners. It is funded by the European Union Development Fund and EU Partner and Member States since 2002.

Europe’s cities are invited to come to Lisbon, Portugal on 13-14 September for the 2018 edition of the URBACT City Festival. Celebrating cities as actors of change in Europe, URBACT’s Festival is open to all EU city representatives.

Application deadline extended for two CIVITAS Awards 2018 prizes

The application deadline has been extended for two categories of the CIVITAS Awards 2018 to 31 July 2018.

The Awards provide a unique platform for towns and cities to demonstrate their pioneering sustainable urban mobility activities. Winning can lead to a town or city achieving Europe-wide exposure for its work and become a role model that inspires others.

Stockholm: Achieving sustainable mobility using urban vehicle access regulations

Stockholm is recognised as a pioneer of using urban vehicle access regulations (UVARs) to reduce congestion, improve air quality and promote alternative transport modes within the city centre. The city ranked second worldwide in the Urban Mobility Index presented in the Arthur D Little Future of Mobility report 3.0, which was published in April 2018. Stockholm scored 57.1% compared with the worldwide average of 42.3% and was very close to the first-place city, Singapore, which achieved 59.3%.

1st Meeting of the Cities of Free Transport

More and more cities in Europe have taken the decision to provide free public transport for residents - or are currently trialling such a scheme. 

This meeting in Dunkirk on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 September 2018, offers a focal point for city municipalities and all stakeholders with an interest in the initiatives.
