Catalonia approves a plan to confront sexual harassment on public transport

In 2020, the Government of Catalonia conducted a survey of women’s experiences of urban mobility and sexual harassment on public transport in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. The survey revealed that around 17% of all reported criminal acts that have taken place on public transport, of which 60% of the victims are women and 40% are men.

Stricter rules for e-scooters: New law in Brussels goes further than the Belgian one

On 1 July, new federal laws for the use of e-scooters in Belgium have come into place. The law puts in place several restrictions related to their use in an effort to address concerns over road safety and hinderance linked to the increasing use of e-scooters.

High Level Meeting of the UN General Assembly on Global Road Safety

Through the adoption of the 2020 UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/74/299 on “Improving Global Road Safety”, governments reaffirmed their commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and established a target to reduce by at least 50% the number of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.

High-level Meeting of the UN General Assembly on Global Road Safety

Through the adoption of the 2020 UN General Assembly resolution A/RES/74/299 on “Improving Global Road Safety”, governments reaffirmed their commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, proclaimed the period 2021-2030 as the Decade of Action for Road Safety, and established a target to reduce by at least 50% the number of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. A Global Plan for the Decade of Action 2021–2030 was developed by WHO and the
