Intermodal transport refers to the use of at least two different modes of transport during one door-to-door journey. The level of integration in terms of ownership, operation or usability is an important aspect of intermodality. Improving intermodal transport requires the development of seamless integrated transport chains.

INTERMODES - Towards a mobile and sustainable Europe

This 6th INTERMODES event is devoted to sustainable mobility and intermodality.

Four round tables will focus on the following topics:
  • green and/or shared, the car in the intermodal chain
  • sustainable mobility solutions to complete the train journey
  • intermodality: soft modes get more popular
  • greenhouse gas emission reduction in airports

Furthermore, the Intermodes Prize will be awarded and there will be an Exhibition Village of European intermodal communities.

Public workshop on smart ticketing

Convinced that the recent ticketing evolution can facilitate access to public transport for European traveller’s, six cities of the Atlantic Area joined their actions through the SITE project to investigate together the opportunities offered by new technologies in this field.

Directly concerned with regional ticket interoperability, the partners are focusing their work on the identification of barriers and levers for a similar interoperability between different Atlantic Area regions (in terms of fare system, technology, communication, etc...).

3rd EPTA workshop

Accross the EU, local authorities are organising themselves to better answer to the new regulatory framework in which to public transport operate. The EPTA project has been designed to study the local institutional context, including elements such as Public Transport Authorities or PT executive agencies.

INTERMODES 2013 - 5th International Congress on Passenger Transport Intermodality

INTERMODES is the 1st European Event entirely devoted to intermodal passenger transport.
This B2B event will host for its 5th edition over 300 delegates from the passenger transport sector in Europe: elected officials responsible for transport, technicians, representatives of users, researchers, transport authorities, public and private transport operators, the industry and services from the passenger transport sector.
INTERMODES takes into account all modes of transport and addresses intermodality at the local, regional, national and international levels.

Study visit of Geneva: the new intermodal mobility scheme

The next visit of the European Club of Intermodal Regions and Cities will be held in Geneva on November 22, 2012.

During this day, the Magistrate of the Canton of Geneva and his new team in charge of mobility, will present the Geneva intermodal mobility scheme and the infrastructure, equipment and systems that have been developed by the Canton to complete the mobility of its citizens and cross-border commuters.

The Club is open to representatives of European local authorities and professionals of the passenger transport field.
