Intermodal transport refers to the use of at least two different modes of transport during one door-to-door journey. The level of integration in terms of ownership, operation or usability is an important aspect of intermodality. Improving intermodal transport requires the development of seamless integrated transport chains.

EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK encourages citizens to get out from behind the windscreen

EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is a chance for citizens and policy makers to try out new forms of mobility, and to see the benefits of opting for more sustainable forms of transport. Citizens are invited to try alternatives to car use and see first-hand how cleaner mobility can benefit them in terms of health, finances, and quality of life, in addition to improving the environment.

The Terrassa City Council has launched a campaign which aims to encourage people to walk within the city by highlighting the benefits that this activity entails for citizens, especially with regard to health. The Deputy Mayor for the Environment and Sustainability, Marc Armengol, and the councillor of Health, Maruja Rambla, presented the campaign "Step by Step" last week at the downtown, with the slogan "In Terrassa, on foot. Fast and healthy”.

Forum mobility

This FORUM organized by the association "FOR URBAN PASSION" is held on May 11, in BOZAR.

The theme "New Use <> New Move. Land Use & Mobility" will open the page of the city by 2030.

This prospective look will be based on the findings: what is moving in our lives (work, housing, habits of consumption, etc.) and how we have already changed our ways of moving (electric scooter or bike, renting or sharing cars, etc.) Do these changes bode well for the city of tomorrow?

The EU-funded CIVITAS Initiative has enabled the implementation of more than 600 sustainable mobility measures in more than 60 cities acrosse Europe between 2002 and 2016.

CIVITAS Forum Conference 2017

This annual event brings together the CIVITAS community from across Europe: hundreds of mobility experts, actors and stakeholders, all of whom are devoted to the development of sustainable urban mobility in their cities.

The 15th edition of the CIVITAS Forum Conference will continue the tradition of offering state-of-the-art presentations, interactive workshops and sessions, interesting site visits, and new innovative elements in the programme.

E-course: Integration of urban nodes in the TEN-T corridors

The Urban Nodes course is about how to improve the efficiency of the transport system in an urban node of the TEN-T core network.

It offers an overview of the urban node concept and its benefits, describes the ever-growing importance of urban nodes in the TEN-T context, looks at the methods to assess the most cost-efficient transport measures and presents four case studies and their evaluation experience.

This course focuses on helping cities with an urban node role to become more familiarised with the processes involved in transport planning in the TEN-T context.

BiTiBi final conference

After three years of intensive collaboration among four European countries, the 10 partners involved in BiTiBi are pleased to host the final conference of this project.

The conference will share the encouraging results of the pilot projects and explain how the implementation of qualitative bike facilities at train stations can increase the number of train passengers and cyclists, and deliver an improvement on city traffic.

E-course: Management of Smart Cities

Based on the successful experience of the Management of Urban Infrastructures MOOC, we are happy to announce the release of our second free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), in February 2017, on the Management of Smart Cities.

This course is offered by EPFL, and diffused through the Coursera platform. The Smart Cities MOOC provides an introduction to the principles of management of smart urban infrastructures.
