Intermodal transport refers to the use of at least two different modes of transport during one door-to-door journey. The level of integration in terms of ownership, operation or usability is an important aspect of intermodality. Improving intermodal transport requires the development of seamless integrated transport chains.
EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK is a chance for citizens and policy makers to try out new forms of mobility, and to see the benefits of opting for more sustainable forms of transport. Citizens are invited to try alternatives to car use and see first-hand how cleaner mobility can benefit them in terms of health, finances, and quality of life, in addition to improving the environment.
The Terrassa City Council has launched a campaign which aims to encourage people to walk within the city by highlighting the benefits that this activity entails for citizens, especially with regard to health. The Deputy Mayor for the Environment and Sustainability, Marc Armengol, and the councillor of Health, Maruja Rambla, presented the campaign "Step by Step" last week at the downtown, with the slogan "In Terrassa, on foot. Fast and healthy”.

The EU-funded CIVITAS Initiative has enabled the implementation of more than 600 sustainable mobility measures in more than 60 cities acrosse Europe between 2002 and 2016.

The Urban Nodes course is about how to improve the efficiency of the transport system in an urban node of the TEN-T core network.
It offers an overview of the urban node concept and its benefits, describes the ever-growing importance of urban nodes in the TEN-T context, looks at the methods to assess the most cost-efficient transport measures and presents four case studies and their evaluation experience.
This course focuses on helping cities with an urban node role to become more familiarised with the processes involved in transport planning in the TEN-T context.
