A platform meeting on ‘Alternative Future Urban Mobility’, organised by the Astrale LIFE monitoring team as part of the European Commission’s LIFE programme, will be held on 21 – 22 November in Berlin (Germany).

European Commission launches two new tenders

The European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) has launched two new tenders related to mobility planning.
The first tender, “Study on a European urban transport roadmap 2030”, has the general objective of providing policy support tools to assist city authorities throughout Europe to identify and implement the most cost effective policies and to improve understanding of the policy measures necessary to achieve European urban transport policy objectives. It is divided into two main tasks.

Cities invited to share knowledge on sustainable urban transport

A new European project invites cities from Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Mediterranean to exchange on innovative and green urban transport. SOLUTIONS will bring together experts and learners, and support cities in the up-take of innovative sustainable mobility solutions. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2013.
Participants can get involved in the SOLUTIONS project either as “leading cities” who share their expertise, “take-up cities” who commit to implementing new measures, or “training” cities who participate in knowledge sharing and capacity building workshops.

Call for abstracts for Velocity Global in Adelaide (Australia)

The European Cyclist Federation and Velo-city Global 2014 Adelaide announced that the call for abstracts is now open. Abstracts can be submitted until October 11th.
Adelaide Velo-city Global 2014 Management Committee and the European Cyclists’ Federation invites the public to submit an abstract for presentation at the Adelaide Velo-city Global 2014 Conference, taking place 27–30 May 2014 at the Adelaide Convention Centre, South Australia.

Bristol, Brussels, Glasgow and Ljubljana shortlisted for European Green Capital 2015

Bristol, Brussels, Glasgow and Ljubljana have been chosen as the four finalists to proceed to the next stage of the European Green Capital 2015 Award organised by the European Commission. The European Green Capital Award is an annual prize that goes to one city every year, highlighting its environmental performance.
Bristol, Brussels, Glasgow and Ljubljana have been shortlisted from 8 entries across Europe. An independent panel of 12 experts assessed each entry on the basis of 12 indicators:
•Local contribution to global climate change
•Local transport
