Welcome to the May edition of the Eltis newsletter.
As pandemic-response mobility measures continue to be rolled out in cities across Europe, by contrast, other countries are now able to start lifting restrictive transport measures. Many administrative bodies have enough evidence of the positive impact of certain response-measures – such as restrictions on private vehicles – that they intend to embed the measures in mobility management and local transport policies going forward.
Please note that in light of the ongoing uncertainty around the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic the European Commission's Urban Mobility Days Conference in 2020 will be held as a fully digital event. Please see the article below for more information.
The Eltis team will continue to highlight online networking events and webinars on the Eltis home page. Many of these events have been arranged at short notice in response to COVID-19 so it’s worth checking in on a regular basis. As well as our weekly summary of COVID-19 news, the Eltis homepage also includes a new COVID-19 tab to keep readers up to date on the latest urban mobility observations.
In addition, the European Commission continues to celebrate examples of best practise in sustainable urban mobility; the winners of the 8th SUMP Award, the first ever EU Urban Road Safety Award and the two winning EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2019 municipalities have been announced.
