PAV AV pilot: Autonomous driving along the coast of Varberg

By Katie Basham / Updated: 13 Jun 2022

PAV (Planning for Autonomous Vehicles) is an Interreg NSR-funded project that will help cities develop sustainable spatial planning strategies that include AVs. Beyond working directly with the partner cities, PAV can help other local authorities integrate autonomous mobility by making the necessary knowledge and methodology freely and easily accessible.

As part of this project, for two weeks in June 2021, the self-driving pilot bus operated on Tångkörarvägen in Varberg. The interest from the public was positive and a total of almost 800 people tested the new technology.

Max Wehlin from Varberg Municipality talks us through the key pilot learnings and what it means for the future.
