Sustainable urban mobility planning (SUMP) has become an important topic in all European countries, with key components being its integrated nature, collaborative processes and goal-oriented approach. Such comprehensive planning processes can be a challenge to introduce – particularly in places with little tradition of strategic and participatory planning.
This is the first in a series of e-courses that help planners and policy makers to implement SUMP in their own city. The SUMP learning programme for mobility practitioners’ courses tackle different phases in the SUMP process starting from how to initiate a SUMP and prepare a long-term vision in cooperation with various stakeholders, elaborate the SUMP strategy and select SUMP measures and on how to finally implement SUMP.
Each course contains several modules and concrete case examples from European cities. Some of the courses also include exercises that help to review your city’s own SUMP practices.
The course can be accessed here.
