WebTAG transport scheme appraisal

By News Editor / Updated: 30 Mar 2015

Well-conducted studies and appraisals of planned transport infrastructure can help to properly set objectives and identify problems and develop potential solutions. This appraisal process supports the development of investment decisions to support a business case.

WebTAG is used in the UK to appraise new transport schemes before they are built to understand the benefits that they will produce in relation to their costs. It is objectives-based and fully comprehensive with data on values of time, reliability, congestion, costs, and noise and air pollution, among others. Using WebTAG is necessary for projects or studies which require UK government approval, but the process also functions as a best-practice guide for smaller UK-based projects or projects outside the UK.
