The EVIDENCE project is reviewing current practices in the evaluation of sustainable transport measures. Read our paper (downloadable from the Evidence website) to find out how the scheme appraisal process disadvantages sustainable transport projects, through its treatment of societal impacts and time savings in particular. To help aid understanding of why it is highly challenging (and contestable) to compare sustainable transport projects with infrastructure investment projects. The team has also pulled together a helpful explanation of how cost benefit analysis is used and applied, de-mystifying the technical approaches. Download the paper from: http://evidence-project.eu/ and contribute to the debate either here on Eltis or via the Linked In group.
As part of the project we have a team of international specialists who are able to respond to technical questions about appraisal, cost-benefit analysis and evaluation. Please get in touch if you have any questions or wish to contribute to the debate.
