The European Club of Intermodal Regions and Cities, in partnership with SNCF Mobilités, is organising a technical tour on intermodality in the Pays de la Loire region in France.
Starting from the Angers metropolitan area - in the presence of Christophe Béchu, (senator and mayor of Angers; president of the Angers agglomeration); Alain Hunault (mayor of Châteaubriant; member of the regional council; and chairman of the transport commission); and of Roch Brancour (vice-mayor of Angers; vice-president of the regional council) - this visit is an opportunity to discover the regional intermodality plan programmed by the regional council, which holds a leading role in the implementation of intermodality and the development of complementary transport modes on its territory.
The two-day technical tour will place in the spotlight recent and future developments of the regional intermodal passenger transport network, the attendance of which is constantly increasing.
These include:
- new routes
- timetable synchronisation
- user-friendly approaches
- pricing policy
- new intermodal train stations in Châteaubriant, Angers, Sablé-sur-Sarthe and Ancenis
- Nantes' future railway station; the TGV-TER 'tangent' to facilitate inter-regional mobility
- Park-and-ride
- a bicycle mobility plan
- a bike-sharing scheme
- car-sharing
- carpooling
- and new pedestrian layouts.
These adjustments were developed taking into account their correlation between mobility, urban planning and economic development.
