HARMONY will host a webinar to discuss “Managing the unexpected: SUMPS and new mobility services during COVID-19”. The webinar will take place on 14 December 2020 from 14:00 to 16:30 CET.
HARMONY is a project funded under the European Union’s (EU) Horizon 2020 framework for Research and Innovation. HARMONY's vision is to deliver a new generation of regional spatial and transport planning tools that will enable metropolitan area authorities to introduce new passenger and freight mobility services in a sustainable way. Its main objectives are:
- the co-creation of city- and user-centric spatial and transport planning policies for the sustainable introduction and application of new mobility services based on autonomous vehicles and drone technologies
- the development of a new generation of harmonised spatial and multimodal transport planning tools which comprehensively model the dynamics of the changing transport sector and spatial organisation
- the provision of evidence-based policy and regulation recommendations for updating the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans of the future.
During the webinar, participants will learn more about HARMONY initial findings and explore emerging mobility stakeholders’ requirements, especially due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar is structured around two main sessions on Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) and new transport modeling, business models and mobility services respectively. Several HARMONY partners will present the initial project outcomes, as well as the results of the HARMONY survey on the COVID-19 impact on transport planning priorities. Additionally, HARMONY invited the project LEAD to bring the added value of their research and innovation related to digital twins and sustainable urban logistics. This synergy between similar CIVITAS projects will offer an enriching occasion to join forces and exchange knowledge among H2020 initiatives. Similarly, a lively discussion will be encouraged by a mix of platforms, such as presentations, round tables and an interactive workshop.
The online workshop is part of a wider strategy aiming at reaching out to relevant stakeholders in order to understand their needs and preferences in terms of passenger and freight mobility and spatial solutions. The workshop will address key topics and challenges in the post-COVID-19 era, such as SUMPs, transport modelling, business models and new technologies (especially automated vehicles and drones).
