The 2018 European Week of Regions and Cities offers the opportunity for local and city-level governments to showcase their capacity to stimulate economic growth, facilitate job creation and successfully engage in EU cross-border cooperation.

The week will comprise of over 100 workshops, debates and exhibitions, as well as providing the opportunity to network. The event welcomes 6,000 participants every year, including regional decision-makers, policy experts, researchers, private company representatives and journalists.

The week is run by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and the European Committee of the Regions (CoR). It will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the EU Cohesion Policy, which aims to achieve the EU Treaty objective of economic, social and territorial cohesion.

Further to the development of the Cohesion Policy beyond 2020, the event will also examine social inclusion, education, urban mobility and much more.
