EIT Mobility Talks Webinar: Citizens as drivers of their own mobility

By Benjamin Baxter / Updated: 02 Oct 2020
Wednesday 21 October 2020, 16:00 to 17:30

People have a say in urban mobility. Their participation in the decision-making process regarding urban mobility issues is essential to understand and respond to their expectations and real needs. By giving people the opportunity to influence public decisions on urban mobility, the quality of the policy being developed can be improved, making the solutions provided more relevant, effective and efficient.

Public engagement is a key requirement of sustainable urban mobility transformation. To involve people individually or in the form of civil society organisations ensures transparency and gives them the opportunity to become true agents of change.

Engaging citizens is especially important during times of crisis like the Covid-19 pandemic, as the effectiveness of the response efforts became crucial.

The webinar will feature four speakers with a good representation of the innovation knowledge triangle (industry, academy and research and city):

  • Frank Hansen – BMW, Germany
  • Robert Braun – Institute of Advanced Studies, Austria
  • Burcu Ozdemir – IMM Smart City, Istanbul – Turkey
  • Evelien Marlier – European Passengers’ Federation

The webinar will take place on 21 October 2020 at 16:00 - 17:30 CET.
