The Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, in cooperation with the European co-funded project CIVITAS 2020 SUMPs-Up, is organizing a two-day event on 16 and 17 January 2020 on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SVAK).
The event will take place at the central amphitheater of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in Athens, Greece.
The purpose of the event is to provide support to local governments with designing sustainable cities through the development of SUMP services, and by improving mobility for all citizens, particularly for pedestrians and people riding bicycles as a mean of daily transport.
The Conference kick-off on Thursday, January 16th, at 9:20 am, with an official opening ceremony at 9:00 am.
This event is addressing mainly executives of first and second grade local governments, as well as the scientific community involved in SUMP development.
On January 16th, the event will focus on transferring know-how and sharing experiences to develop a SUMP, presenting best practices with speakers from Greece and abroad. Opportunities for financing a SUMP and transport measures in view of the Planning Period 2021-2027 will also be discussed.
On January 17th, the event will include keynote presentations as well and a set of training workshops on specific sub-topics, such as "How to choose and develop the most appropriate mobility measures", "SUMP and road safety measures", "ITS measures for sustainable cities".
