Research Fellow (0.9 FTE, Fixed term contract for 30 months)

Working with the Director of TRI, your main responsibilities will be to deliver TRI's responsibilities and tasks within the EU Horizon 2020 project PROSPERITY, which is about Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs, known as Local Transport Plans or Strategies in the UK). These tasks include research on existing SUMP systems around the EU, development of guidance on SUMPs, management of relationships between ministries and local authorities, project evaluation, and development and delivery of training material on SUMPs to professionals from local authorities in southern and eastern Europe in particular.

Relevant experience in a local authority, transport consultancy or similar context is essential, as well as experience of developing and delivering training material and SUMPs themselves. Alternatively experience in organisational change linked to the implementation of new policy within public sector organisations (not necessarily within a transport context) would be relevant, as long as you have accompanying knowledge of sustainable transport issues.

You must be able to work on your own initiative and with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. In addition, you must have excellent project management and IT skills with proven proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office. You will need strong attention to detail, good interpersonal and team working skills and be willing, as well as working on the project, to play a part in the wider activities of the Transport Research Institute. Some travel within the rest of the EU, of the order of four trips per year for 3-4 days, will be required.

To apply for this role, visit the TRI website. Please note that there is currently no website for the PROSPERITY project.
