Relevance to SUMP – The above definition is taken from the EC ‘Guidelines – Developing and implementing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.’ As set out in the Urban Mobility Package, the European Commission has actively promoted the concept of sustainable urban mobility planning for several years and is committed to supporting national, regional and local authorities during the process of developing and implementing SUMPs, including through funding instruments.
