The Stop-Covoiturage project, introduced in 2013 by the Saône Mont d'Or territory, north of Lyon in France, is an innovative transport scheme that combines hitchhiking and carpooling.

The aim is to promote car-sharing over short distances to help commuters get to train stations, bus stops or directly to workplaces.  This project helps to reduce individual car journeys and improve the quality of life of the city by diminishing traffic congestion and CO2 emissions.
