A partnership between the territories Drôme and Ardèche and the motorway company ASF has been formed to promote car-sharing on the A7 motorway (“Autoroute du Soleil”). A partnership between the territories Drôme and Ardèche and the motorway company ASF has been formed to promote car-sharing on the A7 motorway (“Autoroute du Soleil”). This partnership, unique in France, will work to develop four areas of car-sharing parking, adding up to 400 off-street parking spaces, as well as areas for parking bicycles. The project was born from the new transport policy of the Drôme and Ardèche “Départements” which aims to address in particular home-work commuting which accounts for 10% of trips on the motorway.

The four parking stations will be located at the access points to A7 motorway in Northern Valence (135 places), in Loriol (90 places), in Tain l’Hermitage (70 places) and in Montélimar-South (100 places). They will be equipped with secure access for badge holders, adapted lighting and video monitoring. Parking will be free for the day (23h) and €4 for the week-end. Beyond that, the cost will be €10 for four days and €10 per day for additional days after that.

Work will begin on this development in 2011 and ASF will be responsible for the running of the sites until 2033.
