The new campaign, launched on June 3 in Athens, addresses children and those responsible for their well being, including parents, teachers and authorities.

The campaign is set in the framework of the European Commission White Paper for Transport and its target of cutting by half the 40,000 annual deaths on European roads every year. 25 countries from the EU and candidate countries will participate in the campaign, which will include provision of information, raising awareness, and exchanging of good practices. In addition several activities will be carried out, including first aid initiation courses during school holidays, a World Day on First Aid Day on September 2003, and a World Health Day on 7 April 2004, when a Good Practice Guide on Road Safety will be presented.
