The pedibus “Strade di Casa” (streets of home) promoted by the Municipality of Orvieto (Italy), was presented in Brussels in early March during the conference on Shared Social Responsibility of EU citizens, organised by the Council of Europe - in partnership with the European Commission.

The initiative is well described in a video clip (in English) and was presented as one of the positive regional experiences achieved by the International Network of Slow Cities “Cittaslow”. The director of Cittaslow International Pier Giorgio Oliveti explained “This project is similar to many other pedibus initiatives implemented all over Europe and may appear not so relevant if we consider its dimensional scale. However, it illustrates a new approach in sharing solutions to problems in a small-medium city like Orvieto. This is for sure a virtuous and positive action that comes from many actors (public administration, local bodies and citizens) that work together following the most advanced criteria of shared social responsibility”
