Ecovelocity 2011 - low carbon motor festival (UK)

Today sees the launch of Ecovelocity 2011 - an outdoor motoring festival in London showcasing the latest in eco-transport.
The event is the first of its kind, running from 8th-11th September in the grounds of Battersea power station in the UK capital. Owned by Metro and sponsored by EDF energy, the event will showcase the best economical low and ultra-low emission vehicles currently available and offer test drive opportunities.

Market leading brands attending the event include Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, SEAT, Vauxhall, Volvo, Toyota, Lexus and Mia Electric. As well as being able to learn about, view and test electric, hybrid and low CO2-emitting cars, those attending the event will be able to see some unusual eco-vehicles like the 1980s petrol-powered Ford Escort RS2000 and the diesel VW Camper Van that have been converted using the latest green car technology to make them viable modern cars. Also, on show is the Bluebird Electric, Europe's fastest electric vehicle.

  • A daily track parade of the winners of the What car? Green Awards
  • Unveling of the iRacer - electric race car (pictured)
  • Driving experiences for children aged 5-17
  • Opportunity to test drive the latest low-carbon cars and motorcycles around a specially designed track.

Tickets cost £10 for adults, £5 for children or a family ticket of £25 (2 adults & 2 children).
