Drastic action against parking violators to protect bikers rights (Lithuania)

The mayor of Vilnius has published a stunt on video-sharing website Youtube, of himself crushing a Mercedes car parked in a bicycle lane by riding over it in an armoured personnel carrier.
The city's mayor, Arturas Zuokas, is known as a biker friendly mayor, installing cycle lanes throughout the capital during his first term as mayor. In a video released by the city government, Zuokas is seen beaming triumphantly as he rides roughshod over the car. The car was bought specifically for the stunt.

The action taken by the mayor is racy, but he takes a clear stand in favour of city biking. Mayor Zuokas wanted his message to be loud and clear that the city will not tolerate brazen and disrespectful behaviour by drivers who disobey parking rules, said his spokeswoman, Irma Juskenaite.

The Youtube clip ends with the mayor driving away on his bike after cleaning the splinters of glass from the street.
