Discovering Madrid by different transport means (Spain)

By Raf Canters / Updated: 01 Aug 2014
The Madrid tourist office has organised different guided visits in Madrid Río, in order to present this renovated riverside area of the city to residents and tourists.
The visits, which took place during the summer months, were part of the “Discover Madrid” programme, which included cultural, leisure and sports activities adapted to all kinds of visitors. The three alternative visits offered were based on three different transport modes: bicycle, foot and rollerblades.

The bicycle was considered to be one of the best means of transport to discover this new area of the city. People who did not have their own bicycle were able to hire one. The visitors who accessed the area by foot could follow a theatre-like tour of the riverside area. For the more sportive, special events were organised such as a journey on rollerblades through the green areas, approaching the view points and crossing the new bridges, while taking advantage of the fresh air.
