Debut SUMP conference to be held in Poland this summer

By News Editor / Updated: 01 Aug 2014
The EU's first ever conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) will take place in Sopot on 12-13 June 2014, bringing together urban mobility planners and implementers from across Europe to explore how planning can contribute to improving the quality of life in cities.
'Planning for a liveable city’ will give delegates the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field of SUMPs, attend workshops on hot topics in urban mobility planning and find out what European projects have to offer for local and regional authorities.

Siim Kallas, the European Commission Vice President responsible for mobility and transport, said: ‘Addressing the problems of urban mobility is one of the great challenges in transport today. With co-ordinated action we can be more successful. Local authorities are the key decision makers. They are best placed to take important local decisions, but they should benefit from support at national and EU level.’
