A platform meeting on ‘Alternative Future Urban Mobility’, organised by the Astrale LIFE monitoring team as part of the European Commission’s LIFE programme, will be held on 21 – 22 November in Berlin (Germany).
The aim of the platform meeting is to bring together practitioners from across Europe to share and profit from the experience of completed and ongoing LIFE projects around the topic of ‘Alternative Future Urban Mobility’, to discuss key issues such as how to motivate people to use less environmentally damaging modes of transport, and to make recommendations regarding where the LIFE programme (and the EC in general) can support this work.

The platform is limited to 30 participants and will take the form of a guided tour of Berlin’s mobility highlights, presentations and discussion groups discussing the pressing challenges to mobility projects.

Topics for these work groups include fostering the change from traditional modes of mobility to new ones, measuring success and encouraging further work, ranking the likelihood of and barriers to ‘Alternative Future Urban Mobility’, and the role of local, national, and European governance leadership to make such changes for the future.
