Ecodriving for Professional Drivers. Greece

The project concerned integrated training in ecodriving for professional drivers of a courier/delivery company in collaboration with the driving institute “Zografos” SA.

Background & Objectives

This project results from the EC funded project TREATISE, operating from January 2005 to June 2007. TREATISE provides free training on sustainable transport subjects for energy and transport professionals. The project covers three areas: Cleaner Fuels & Vehicles, Ecodriving, and Mobility Management. The trainings resulted in several local projects in the eight participating countries. This project is one of them.

Implementation

The target group of the program was 200 professional drivers (TNT Skypack Hellas LTD).The training sessions were divided in theoretical and practical courses with pre-evaluation>of the drivers’ skills in special simulators, theoretical training in Ecodriving using manuals, practical training in simulators and real road conditions and finally Ecodriving certification & contest for the drivers.Integrated training in EcoDriving with theoretical and practical training1. Conclusions

The project is still ongoing but estimated benefits are:Annual fuel savings for the company: 15%Annual CO2 reduction in total: 180 tn CO2/year
