Eltis newsletter - June 2020

By jessdonnelly / Updated: 17 Jun 2020

Welcome to the June edition of the Eltis newsletter.

With post-lockdown mobility response measures continuing across Europe, we highlight the new walking and cycling infrastructure, which includes a 7 km pedestrian zone in central Athens. In addition to our weekly summary of coronavirus (COVID-19) news, the COVID-19 tab on the Eltis homepage continues to be updated so readers can keep abreast of the latest urban mobility observations.

This month, we shine the spotlight on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs). The call for the 9th SUMP Award is now open, with the deadline of 31 October. We highlight the SUMP guidelines now available in Chinese, as well as focusing on the SUMPs of Brussels and Kaunas. We also take the opportunity to request cities to add (or update) their details in the Eltis SUMP city database.

Registration is open for EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK (16-22 September), and also for the Access City Award (deadline 9 September);

Madrid City Council is replacing its most polluting taxis through aid worth EUR 2.7 million;

Finally, we encourage stakeholders to participate in the open public consultation for the evaluation of the Directive on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure (2014/94/EU).

Please note that the Eltis team continues to highlight online networking events and webinars on the Eltis home page. Many of these events are arranged at short notice in response to COVID-19, so it’s worth checking in on a regular basis.

Kind regards,

The Eltis team
