Eltis newsletter - November 2020

By jessdonnelly / Updated: 17 Nov 2020

Welcome to the November edition of the Eltis newsletter.

In this issue, we highlight the news that, in October, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) published a report that aims to help guide cities' green recovery and the European Parliament accepted a proposal that 2021 would be the European Year of Rail. A policy brief towards a common European Framework for Sustainable Urban Mobility Indicators has also been developed as a result of discussions at the 7th Florence Intermodal Forum in September.

We share some changes to urban vehicle access regulations in the EU, along with the business case for cargo bikes. We feature the use of cycling data to gain a greater understanding of user behaviour and investment in cycling facilities, and remind you about both the public call for Sustainable Urban Transports Implementing Cities (deadline 15 December 2020) and the open public consultation on the revision of the ITS Directive (deadline 02 February 2021).

Also in this newsletter, we highlight some helpful materials to assist in improving urban mobility. These include the Eltis training on how to make your SUMP more inclusive for all, which took place as part of Urban Mobility Days 2020, and a webinar recording that showcases a tool for traffic modelling. Finally, we feature some urban mobility examples through various written case studies and video clips, including planning through the eyes of children.

Please note that the home page of the Eltis website is frequently updated with details of useful online networking events and webinars. Many of these events are arranged at short notice, so it’s worth checking in on a regular basis.

Kind regards,

The Eltis team
