Positive first results for e-scooter project (The Netherlands)

Initial results from the e-scooter project show promising results with more than 60% of the volunteers who tested electric scooter, agreeing they thought it was a good alternative to the car and 25% would consider buying one.

The municipality of Rotterdam is ´lending out` 10 electric scooters to local employees and residents. The aim is to allow people to try out the scooters for one week and hopefully entice them to more sustainable transport behaviours. So far the project has generated great interest and waiting times for the scooters are currently very long.

The project is part of Rotterdam’s “Stroomstoot” programme, which aims to speed up the introduction of electric vehicles in the city streets, with the aim of reducing both air and noise pollution, and ultimately to significantly contribute to Rotterdam’s target of halving CO2 emissions by 2025 (as compared to 1990).
