Personal Rapid Transit Conference
Last year's PRT conference introduced many transport professionals to the concept of Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) and enabled them to see the track and vehicles that are now undergoing full passenger trials at LHR T5.

The conference also reviewed the other PRT systems being made ready for passenger service elsewhere in Europe, and the associated research that has already begun to reveal that PRT systems will significantly reduce our dependence on the car and cut the emissions it causes. The event attracted more than 130 attendees from all over the world, with outstanding speakers from the public and private sectors as well as academia.

The 2010 conference returns to Heathrow and will enable delegates to ride on the LHR T5 PRT system, as well as to further understand its efficiency and thus its future roles in providing a genuine alternative to the car, and greatly improving the accessibility of existing public transport systems, such as suburban rail networks.

It will therefore reinforce the urgency of the need to plan for PRT not simply as a convenience at airports but also as a new form of urban and suburban transit.

This conference is organised on behalf of ATRA Europe.
