International Summer School - "Sustainable Mobility – Made in IZMIR“
This year, the International Summer School on "Sustainable Mobility" will take place in İzmir from 13 - 20 August, 2017. The event is organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with İzmir University of Economics.
The International Summer School consists of lectures that are to be conducted with various study groups, field visits, technical visits and open public panels; all will be related to sustainable transportation.
“Sustainable Mobility – Made in IZMIR” aims to introduce Izmir as the pilot city for Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP) in Turkey. It is an opportunity to begin the development and implementation of sustainable transport policies in cities. Furthermore, the summer school will build a specialised communication network to enhance knowledge exchange and peer-to-peer learning.
It is anticipated that doctoral students, young academics, and experts from the following fields will attend the summer school in Izmir:
- Transportation and mobility planning;
- Street designing and application;
- City planning and design;
- Landscaping and open area architecture;
- Urban planning and architecture;
- Urban sociology and economy;
- Transportation psychology;
- Urban geography.
To increase their understanding and encourage knowledge exchange, attendees will be split into four working groups. Each will focus on one of the following thematic points:
