Velo-City 2013 will take place in Vienna (Austria)

By Jan Christiaens / Updated: 01 Aug 2014
In 2013 the Velo-City conference will be held in Vienna. For four days Vienna will be the meeting point for cycling experts and fans from all over the world. The organisers expect about 1,500 attendees.
Vienna was elected to host the most important cycling conference by the European Cyclists Federation (ECF). The conference will take place in Vienna from 11th – 14th of June 2013. Vice-Mayor Maria Vassilakou is proud to host the conference for four days in the city town hall and its surroundings.

Vienna is, of course, well known for its musical heritage. This suits the motto of Velo-City 2013: the sound of cycling. Vienna has also experienced a blossoming cycling culture in recent years. The number of cyclists is rising. The city’s application benefited from its central position in Europe and its access to the eastern regions. Other applicants, such as Rio de Janeiro, Nantes and the Brabant region in Belgium, did not have this advantage.
