In Lyon (France) a new system of free cycles Vélo’V around the city made a good start. After a few unsuccessful attempts, Vélo’V is heading for a great success. The project can count on a lot of interest from the urban transport-platform. Vélo’V provides 2.000 cycles on 200 places around Lyon and Villeurbanne. Each day these cycles are used a 15.000 times for 2.8 km during 20 minutes. Eighty-six percent of the users are residents of Lyon and Villeurbanne, sixty-four percent of the trips are work-home-transfers.
