When it comes to motorised travel, people with reduced mobility often have very restricted options. Car manufacturers offer a very limited range of possibilities, and those become even fewer if a smaller car is desired. A new electric car developed by the Hungarian company, Kenguru, may provide a solution.
The car is designed mainly with wheelchairs users in mind. The driver accesses the vehicle through the back, with the rear door opening with the aid of a remote control. Its lower part drops down, which serves as an access ramp enabling the drivers to enter. This means that falls are avoided.
Improvements do still need to be made to the design, with little to no storage space available in the car. Despite this, the concept indicates that it is possible to design vehicles specifically for drivers with reduced mobility.
