Funding opportunities to promote multimodal travel behaviour

By Raf Canters / Updated: 01 Aug 2014
In June 2012, a new campaign to promote multimodal travel in European towns and cities will be launched by the European Commission.
From June 2012 until March 2015, ‘Do the Right Mix’ will reinforce existing European Mobility Week campaign initiatives at the European, national and local level. Although the new campaign will organise activities throughout the year, European Mobility Week will remain the culmination of the awareness raising activities for sustainable urban transport.

Apart from setting up and supporting national campaigns in the UK, Italy, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria and Latvia, ‘Do the Right Mix’ will also launch annual calls for applications which will allow sustainable transport campaigners in 31 European countries – including EU Member States, EEA countries Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein plus Croatia - to apply for co-financing up to maximum €7,000. They will also be encouraged to share and promote their activities to a wider European audience by publishing them online at www.dotherightmix.eu.

‘Do the Right Mix’ will also recognise Europe's best sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMPs) through an annual award. Apart from European recognition, the town or city that demonstrates the most advanced approach in terms of integrated transport planning will receive a prize of €10,000. The first call for the SUMP award will be launched this September.
