Breda's bus fleet to be powered by electricity from 2015 (the Netherlands)

By Lewis Macdonald / Updated: 01 Aug 2014
The Dutch city's commitment to electric buses is a strong component of its drive to become carbon neutral by 2044.
The public buses in the city of Breda in the Netherlands will be entirely powered by electricity by 2015. Over the last twelve months trials of different models have taken place in the city, and the results were so successful that the city has decided to operate a fleet of 34 electric vehicles.

Replacing Breda's bus fleet with electric vehicles will contribute greatly to the city's goal of becoming entirely carbon neutral by 2044. The province of North Brabant, where Breda is located, is also engaged in this agenda, helping public transport providers and businesses to acquire knowledge and the technologies needed to switch to cleaner transport alternatives.
