This can be achieved by shifting to a more environmentally friendly use of privately owned motorized vehicles and by ramping up the use of public transport and bicycles. The Program was initiated by the Munich City Council and is operated by the Department of Labor and Economic Development. Environmental loading point for inner city delivery in Bremen             20-07-2009 In Bremen an Environmental Loading Point was established in cooperation of local authorities and economy. It is accessible exclusively for EURO5/EEV delivery vehicles to promote their use in inner city delivery. This measure is implemented for 2 years and will be assessed at the end of 2009. New goods distribution scheme in Krakow/Poland               19-06-2009 The City of Krakow developed a new scheme of goods distribution with usage of clean and more environment friendly vehicles. Initial implementation will be made within the city centre on the main square area. With the goods distribution system, the private delivery service in the old city centre shall be reduced by about 50%. Urban transhipment centre/Norwich (United Kingdom)           23-04-2009 This measure sought to demonstrate the potential for a transhipment centre for freight deliveries and collections within the city centre to contribute towards clean urban transport objectives by optimising urban goods delivery journeys with clean and energy efficient vehicles. The expected benefits included reduced congestion, emissions and noise. Sustainable SME logistic for the food industry - Malmö/Sweden           21-04-2009 A common food logistic system have been developed linking 40 - 50 food producers with 5 purchasers in the region. The project which is first of it’s kind in Europe is planned to be owned and operated by the partners involved and aims at developing a cost and environmentally efficient regional shared transport system. Photo credit: Klaus Post Satellite based traffic management for SME’s - Malmö/Sweden           21-04-2009 By using the GPS (satellite) and GPRS (mobile phones) techniques a small delivery firm have been able to optimise transports and reduce unnecessary trips. The control centre does get updated positions of the vehicles twice a minute, enabling them to deal with fast unplanned city distribution. Photo credit: 215 215 Freight driver support - Malmö/Sweden           21-04-2009 Malmö Lastbilscentral, Malmö Lorry Centre, is establishing vehicle and driver support as a new concept to get a more efficient transport planning. Within the measure Malmö LBC have installed vehicle computers in a few lorries and will together with manufacturers continuously develop the vehicle computers before a large scale introduction. Priority access for clean goods vehicles/Norwich (United Kingdom)           21-04-2009 Goods vehicles which meet pre-determined clean vehicle standards would be allowed to use priority bus lanes in Norwich. This work package was a means to demonstrate the effectiveness of opening up facilities to assist goods operators who respect cleaner urban transport principles. Development of Strategic Freight Holders Club to Deliver Improved Efficiency of Freight Operation in the City Area and Effect Improved Air Quality in Urban Areas/Norwich (United Kingdom)           21-04-2009 Dialogue, co-operation and willingness to work towards common aims has traditionally been lacking in urban freight transport planning. This work package aims to demonstrate whether better results could be achieved. The measure will demonstrate the extent to which the establishment of a stakeholder group can help to meet urban freight objectives. Goods delivery to Park & Ride Sites/Norwich (United Kingdom)           20-04-2009 The aim of this measure is to provide for timely delivery of goods by clean urban delivery vehicle from a city centre retail complex to a suburban Park&Ride terminal, where the retail goods purchased earlier in the day can be collected by the consumer.
