The experience has been a positive one for the Council and anecdotal evidence suggests that UTMC in Preston is achieving its objectives Solar water tram in Bydgoszcz, Poland                 27-11-2009 At the end of September 2008, acceptance tests were carried out for the prototype of a “solar ferry” of the Bydgoszcz Urban Transport Company Ltd. (Miejskie Zakłady Komunikacyjne sp. z o.o.). The unit, to be called “Słonecznik” (“a sunflower”), is the first passenger inland waterway vessel in Poland with solar panels and batteries as the basic propulsion power source. Responses to the survey inform how to proceed on developing a series of soft measures to promote a set of soft measures Coloured bus lane in Budapest (Hungary)           19-07-2010 (19-07-2010) In the ‘80s public transport vehicles served 80% of daily travel needs in Budapest. The 80-20% ratio had changed to 60-40% by the end of the ‘90s due to the rapid development of motorization. Nowadays, it is a roughly 50-50% split. To try to regain some of this lost ground, the city has been busy installing new bus priority including, for the first time, a coloured bus lane to deter cars from driving in the bus lane. CNG consumption monitoring and Ecodriving training in Cesena and Forlì           26-08-2010 (25-08-2010) AVM SpA is a public transport operator running inter-urban and urban bus networks in the Province of Forlì-Cesena. The company runs around 12 millions bus-km/year with a fleet of over 350 buses. With the support of TRT, AVM designed a tailored pilot action in the framework of the FLEAT project to evaluate the potentials of both ecodriving and sustainable fleet management concepts for consistently reducing its fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. EMT Madrid demonstration in RECODRIVE project           14-12-2009 The Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (E.M.T.) has implemented a demonstration of RECODRIVE project measures with the support of Spanish project partner BESEL, in order to evaluate the benefits obtained in terms of energy saving and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Electric urban Public Transport in Craiova Municipality           14-12-2009 (14-12-2009) RAT Craiova, is the URTP demonstrator in RECODRIVE project with European financing. This project is applying measures to reduce fuel consumption in its bus fleet and is concerned with energy savings within its Public Transport system by trams. The LeoLiner Tram           31-08-2009 After the political changes at the beginning of the 1990s, public transport operators in Central and Eastern Europe were confronted by rapid developments in the transport market and faced an uncertain future. One success story was the formation of a joint venture by the Leipzig Transport Company (LVB) and a company with private capital. This joint venture produced the LeoLiner, a cost-effective tram that has achieved widespread popularity.
