news		   EU transport ministers adopt conclusions on the Action Plan on Urban Mobility
The EU Council adopts the conclusions on the Action Plan on Urban Mobility while stressing the challenge and the opportunity that this initiative presents; and invites the Commission to ensure that the new Transport White Paper contains targets and policies for promoting more efficient, sustainable, safe and healthy urban mobility.
news		   Traffic pollution and childhood asthma link identified
New research has found a possible link between traffic-related air pollution outside people's homes and the onset of asthma in children during the first eight years of life. Higher levels of nitrogen dioxide, PM2.5 and soot were more likely to be recorded at the homes of those children who developed asthma and asthma symptoms.

The CIVITAS Initiative seeks to inspire cities and towns interested in achieving more sustainable, clean and energy efficient urban transport systems. CIVITAS does not only fund large-scale demonstration activities but also small-scale projects that are meant to stimulate the exchange of ideas, expertise and concrete actions in the field of urban sustainable mobility.

The European funded MEDIATE project has recently produced a set of accessibility indicators it has identified for urban public transport systems. These indicators highlight different aspects of accessibility within a city, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of a local public transport system, specific to that city.
