This section provides access to urban transport related European policy papers that set the framework for further action at national, regional and local levels. It also leads to relevant ongoing initiatives supported by the European Commission, which aimed at exchanging information and experience in order to enhance sustainable mobility in cities and regions.
The section has been sub-divided into the following categories:
- Transport providing access to information related to transport policy as well as technology aspects;
- Energy, linking to energy supply related information sources;
- Environment, covering transport related emission aspects (noise and pollution) as well as efforts towards sustainable development
- Regional Development, addressing the interdependencies between land-use and transport;
- Information Society, highlighting information about transport related impacts of modern information and communication technologies;
- EU Funding Projects, providing an overview of all relevant funding possibilities for urban transport initiatives.
Within the different sub-sections you can view links to EU Policy Papers, Initiatives and Good Practice Guidance. The information displayed covers a short introduction tothe content/purpose of the paper and gives a link to the relevant web pages where the document is stored.
The policy paper list covers Green Papers, which are published by EC on a specific policy area in order to invite comment from interested parties, and White Papers, which very often follow a Green Paper and contain official sets of proposals for Community action in specific policy areas.
The initiatives address activities undertaken by EC to accompany or follow up the policy papers. It covers policy and research activities, statistics and reports produced on behalf of the European Commission.
The good practice guidance section contains accompanying material, summarising interesting experiences in transport relevant areas.
In the EU Funding Programmes section links will be found to the most relevant funding opportunities of the European Commission. More information on EU Funded Projects can be found in the news section.
Please note, the latter section does not represent the ELTIS case study database, where up-to-date experiences from cities and regions are compiled. You can find the case study database in the case studies section.
